Small-Sided Games for Tactical Awareness

Small-sided games (3v3 or 5v5) are excellent for improving decision-making, spatial awareness, and tactical understanding. Play on a reduced pitch size (20x30 meters for 5v5), which forces players to think and act quickly in tight spaces. Add specific rules, such as a maximum of 3 touches per player, to encourage faster ball movement. Each game should last 10 minutes, followed by a 5-minute rest, with a total of 4 games per session. Over time, vary the team formations (e.g., 2 defenders, 2 midfielders, 1 forward) to simulate different scenarios. By dedicating at least one session per week to small-sided games, players develop both technical skills and the ability to read the game more effectively.
